The worship of Gods and the propitiation of the Bhootas is integral to the life of people in this part of the country. Bhootas or Ganas are believed to be the assistants of Lord Shiva. Their main responsibility is to serve the Lord and protect Dharma. They also look after our land protect them . And for people here their propitiation is very important. People of one particular community, through generations, perform ritualistic dances on a chosen day. They represent the Bhoothas. It is believed that the Bhootas reside in the coastal region and towards the end of May they migrate to above the Western Ghats. On the 6th of last month these ritualistic dances called Bhootha Kola was performed in our village.
