If you’re not feeling especially literary or musical this week, see if you can capture the beauty of morning or evening half-light in your corner of the globe.
Early morning is my favourite time. I wake up to hear birds calling out to each other. Sometimes it is like an orchestra. A beautiful beginning. When I hear the birds I remember this quote. It is said to be a quote by Rabindranath Tagore.
‘Faith is the bird that feels the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.’
Whenever I am able to see the night turn into day, it reminds me of this poem attributed to one of our greatest poets, Kalidasa
Salutation to the Dawn
Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence:
The bliss of growth
The glory of action
The splendor of beauty
For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow only a vision
But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore to this day!
Such is the salutation to the dawn.
