For this week’s challenge, share your analog passions with the world. In many cases, we’re given a choice: either go the analog route or upgrade to the digital version. What are your analog obsessions? Are you a book lover who prefers the crisp feel of freshly printed pages over the much more slender convenience of an eReader? Or an audiophile who enjoys the physical experience of placing the needle down on a record instead of pressing play on a Spotify playlist?
Leverage the internet. Tell us about that old-fashioned thing you love and share it with the world online so that it may be preserved digitally, indefinitely.
This challenge really made me think and I made a discovery. I realized I have loved my obsessions or passions in every stage of life. Life changes and we change with time. This does not mean I do not like them now, at this stage of my life.
Letter writing and sending cards to our relatives and friends was such an important part of our lives. But now the internet has become an important part in our lives. It has helped us to keep in touch with so many people. WhatsApp and Facebook has made us more connected. But it can never replace that feeling we used to have on receiving a letter or a greeting card.
I love photography but our old fashioned had been replaced by the digital camera and no by my camera and My Pad. I liked the camera then but I don’t really feel that I would want the same now. I love reading books , they have been a part of my life for so long. I cannot imagine life without books. But I don’t really mind reading novels and magazines and so much more on my kindle. I don’t believe that the hard copy of a book is a must. It is fine as long as I get to read what I want to read.
We used to listen to music on the radio, then to the CD or cassette player but the transition to the internet has been a good one. We can listen to a variety of music. Actually our CDs and cassettes have been in cold storage for quite some time now. But the radio is still a part of our lives. There is something very nice listening to the radio. I guess I would not stop listening to the radio.
I think we have to move on in life. There are different experiences in different stages of life. I loved all those experiences, the good ones of course. :)) There are moments of nostalgia but we cannot go back in time. But I am happy for all those precious memories which will always be a part of my life.
