The River (Sunday photo fiction)

Sunday Photo fiction
The river flowed merrily down the mountain sides. Her source was somewhere in a glacier. But for millions of devotees she had come down from the heavens with great force. Lord Shiva had caught her and released her slowly with great care down the mountain sides.

She flowed into the plains and her life changed when she came into contact with humans. They worshipped her but did not think twice before polluting her. They constructed dams to use her water. She did not mind helping others but she wished humans were not so greedy. They thought it was their right to remove sand from her bed for their uses. Did they ever think about the harm they were doing ?

She had lost her freedom once she had entered the plains. But she had not given in everywhere. Humans thought twice before trying to take advantage of her. But she was very generous too. She had allowed them to build bridges across her. People living nearby needed them. She cared about others and wished they would care about her too. Now she could only move on, there was no going back. That was her life.

The River (Sunday photo

By Lakshmi Bhat

I am a person who believes there is not enough darkness in the world to extinguish the light of a small candle.
We live in a small place in South India. I love reading, blogging, stitching, traveling, photography, listening to people and many other things which make life so very nice and interesting. Blogging is a fun experience, it has brought me into contact with people in different parts of the world and it is good to read about their everyday life. In spite of the differences there is a sameness which is fascinating. I have learnt and am learning something everyday. I have learnt to write haikus. I enjoy combining the thought and the number of syllables. I have always read books but now I am learning to write fiction. Sunday photo fiction is fun and challenging.
Yes, there is so much in life that is sad and that hurts us. Many a time I wonder why life is so unfair to so many. We all have problems in life but the problems of many seems unbearable. This makes me feel so helpless. It is not possible to help everyone but we can do our bit, we can do something to help some in whatever way we can. I am doing something in my own way. Twice a week I go to a home for the mentally challenged . This has enriched my life.
There have been many challenges in life and we have faced them with a positive approach. Our grandson and granddaughter have made life so much more richer.
