Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “rhymes with rosy.” Find a word that rhymes with “rosy” or use the word “rosy” and base your post on it. Enjoy!
The picture that came to mind when I read the word ‘rosy’ was that of the lake in our place. It is one of my favourite places. There is a walking track around the lake and we go there regularly. I love to watch the sun set . The colour of the sky and that of the sun, changes with the months. Now the sun rays on the water are golden in colour. Once the rains start they become silver . The colour of the sky too is different at different times. The most magical evening was when the sky became rosy and the water became rosy and the water reflected that colour. The birds started singing before retiring for the day.
Sunrises and sunsets always remind me of this poem. It is called Salutation to the Dawn. It is supposed to be written by the great poet Kalidasa. But many say it is not written by him. Whoever wrote it, it one of my favourite poems and I salute the poet.
SALUTATION TO THE DAWN
Look to this day:
For it is life, the very life of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence.
The bliss of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendour of achievement
Are but experiences of time.
For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow is only a vision;
And today well-lived, makes
Yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day;
Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!
