A Photo a Week Challenge: Over 100 Years Old

In the first week of January  we were in Amritsar in the state of Punjab. We had been longing to see HARMANDIR SAHIB or THE GOLDEN TEMPLE for quite some time. The Golden temple is one of the most sacred pilgrimage centres for the Sikhs. In fact, people of all faiths go there. Devotion and service is inherent in every nook and corner of the temple complex. We felt blessed to have been there.

In 1581 Guru Arjan Singh initiated the construction of the Gurudwara. The temple made of bricks was completed in 1589.
