Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “cave.” Use it as a noun or a verb. Enjoy!
The word ‘cave’ reminds me of our trip to Badami cave temples many years ago. We had gone to the Hospet to be with my father’s elder sister’s family. Hospet too is an ancient city. It is famous for Hampi, the capital of the Vijayanagar rulers and the Tungabhadra dam. Badami is not very far from Hospet. The cave temples in Badami date back to the 6th century. The caves are on top of a hill and we have to climb up. How did people in those days make these temples? There is a board game which was played in most homes, we called it ‘chenne mane aata’. There was a board with shallow cups and red coloured seeds called chenne were used. I remembered this board game because I fascinated to see the cups of the board game on the floor at one side of the entrance to the cave. It took me back to those days when people must have come there to enjoy a game of ‘chenne mane aata’. I don’t know if such games are played these days. Board games are played, our grandson enjoys to play them with his parents.
Cave also brought to mind the caves of Moria. Lord of the rings is one of may favourite books. I have read it so many times but it has never bored me. The flight through the caves of Moria never fails to frighten and thrill in spite of knowing what will happen to Gandalf. So many books are like that. They remain a part of our lives for a long, long time.
I am a person who believes there is not enough darkness in the world to extinguish the light of a small candle.
We live in a small place in South India. I love reading, blogging, stitching, traveling, photography, listening to people and many other things which make life so very nice and interesting. Blogging is a fun experience, it has brought me into contact with people in different parts of the world and it is good to read about their everyday life. In spite of the differences there is a sameness which is fascinating.
I have learnt and am learning something everyday. I have learnt to write haikus. I enjoy combining the thought and the number of syllables. I have always read books and I was happy to write short fiction. I had thought I would not be able to do so. Stream of Consciousness and photo challenges are fun too.
Yes, there is so much in life that is sad and that hurts us. Many a time I wonder why life is so unfair to so many. We all have problems in life but the problems of many seems unbearable. This makes me feel so helpless. It is not possible to help everyone but we can do our bit, we can do something to help some in whatever way we can. Due to the pandemic I could not go to the Home for the mentally challenged for two years. I had been going there since 2011. I have started going again. I was happy that some members remembered me :) All of them are an important part of my life.
There have been many challenges in life and we have faced them with a positive approach. Our grandson and granddaughter have made our lives richer.
Lord of the RIngs is a wonderful book, with much more adult and complex language than “The Hobbit” which is in a very simple English, as if he wrote it for children.
The Lord of the Rings is among my favorite books, too.

I love how challenging a game can be created from such simple objects. I am unfamiliar with this one.
