Our monsoon season usually starts in the first week of June. We get occasional rains in May, they are pre-monsoon rains. But this time, the days have been cloudy since the 11th and it has been raining a little almost every day. We were all wondering why this was happening. There was a cyclone in the Bay of Bengal and it was said the cloudy weather and the rain were due to that. But the cyclone came and went and from 18th evening it has been raining heavily and almost continuously till today evening. We felt as if we were in the middle of the monsoon season. Then we read in the papers the explanation for these rains by a scientist from the meteorological centre. I needed a clear head to understand it 😊.

There was rain and wind. Many fronds of the coconut trees fell. The branches of many plants were bent due to the weight of water. My husband cleared the garden by keeping the fronds outside our garden wall. Some of our neighbours use them as fuel. But now they can be used only when they are completely dry.
Writing about clearing I remember my paternal grandfather. He was a teacher all his life. After retiring, he lived mostly with my father’s elder brother and with us. I learnt to love books because he read aloud stories from the epics to us. This was almost fifty years ago but I can picture him sitting on the cane chair and us listening with great interest. He was a very methodical person and believed that there was a place for everything and things should be kept in their places 😊. My father’s books in the cupboard were always in order and his files neatly labelled. Something from them has come down to me too but I have not yet got around to labelling our files. 😊

It is interesting that one word can be used in so many ways. No wonder there are misunderstandings when people do not explain themselves clearly. A single problem which should have been as clear as the sky is blue, is interpreted differently by different people. Relationships turn sour, people lose contact and families break up, because of ego problems. Why don’t people sit together and talk frankly about the concerned issues? The air can be cleared so easily. Maybe this is too simplistic 😊.

That’s a lovely post clearly set out, and clearly you loved your Grandad. 💜💜

Nice post on cleaning the path—opening to a discussion on any issues will clear the air around it!!!

A clear stream. I seem to remember your monsoon was late last year?

Last year it was on time. I think it was a month late in 2019. Thank you Derrick.
