Everyday Moments (#SOL-2022)

27-12-2022

The new year is round the corner. It seems just the other day that this year started. I remember a cousin saying that we are lucky when we say time is flying because there are so many who do not know what to with their time. 😊

Last week we went to the hospital for a check-up. Everything is fine. Though for me the cholesterol is slightly higher. For more than a month I was having a different sensation in my soles. I did not think too much about it. On the 23rd I went to the neurology department. I had to wait quite some time for my turn. I finished a book which I had started earlier. I saw many big words in some posters in the waiting place, I made a number of smaller words 😊. We used to play word-building long back. It was fun. The problem is minor and I have been given medicine for two months. Earlier when I was entering my name in the registration place, I forget my purse, the girl standing behind me called to me as I was going away. That was something to smile about 😊.

On the 22nd we attended the 50th wedding anniversary of my husband’s teacher. He was also our children’s’ teacher. His daughter was my husband’s student. The function was held in a temple. It is in a valley, a serene place.  I always like looking at the temple ponds. The water is very calm but the wall on one side needs a little repair. One evening we attended a Pooja in my friend’s home. But we stayed for less than an hour. We always try to reach home before it is dark. Both of us are not very comfortable driving after it is dark.

Sunday morning, we went out for breakfast. It was a nice change 😊. In the evening we had visitors after a long time. We all enjoyed talking to each other. The publishers of my husband’s book had given us some free books. We posted them to some close relatives. Monday morning, we went to our town centre to do some shopping. This is a holiday season. We see a lot of pilgrims coming to the ancient temple of Lord Krishna. Today afternoon I went to Asare. The small boy has been taken back home by his father. Hope he is looked after well there. He was sadly neglected when he first came. He had improved in many ways.

I am listening to The Three Musketeers in Librivox and enjoying it very much. And I listen every day on YouTube to a lecture on Bhagavata Purana by the great Sanskrit scholar, Bannanje Govindacharya.

I am a person who believes there is not enough darkness in the world to extinguish the light of a small candle. We live in a small place in South India. I love reading, blogging, stitching, traveling, photography, listening to people and many other things which make life so very nice and interesting. Blogging is a fun experience, it has brought me into contact with people in different parts of the world and it is good to read about their everyday life. In spite of the differences there is a sameness which is fascinating. I have learnt and am learning something everyday. I have learnt to write haikus. I enjoy combining the thought and the number of syllables. I have always read books and I was happy to write short fiction. I had thought I would not be able to do so. Stream of Consciousness and photo challenges are fun too. Yes, there is so much in life that is sad and that hurts us. Many a time I wonder why life is so unfair to so many. We all have problems in life but the problems of many seems unbearable. This makes me feel so helpless. It is not possible to help everyone but we can do our bit, we can do something to help some in whatever way we can. Due to the pandemic I could not go to the Home for the mentally challenged for two years. I had been going there since 2011. I have started going again. I was happy that some members remembered me :) All of them are an important part of my life. There have been many challenges in life and we have faced them with a positive approach. Our grandson and granddaughter have made our lives richer.

  1. I agree with you, Lakshmi. Time flies in its winged chariot, and there isn’t enough of it even to get all the household chores done. Still, so long as I can do a little reading every day!

  2. I have lived with high cholesterol for a number of years. As you surely know, it’s easy to control, just take the meds and avoid certain foods. You have a long happy life ahead.

  3. A year flies by fast and holds so much. And it is for us to decide what to remember. I like that blogging allows us to record some of it. I appreciate that it also allows us to broaden our world when reading each other’s posts. Thank you for sharing your snippets.
