“The bulbul couple
Built their nest among the fronds
Thought their eggs were safe.
Survival was a slim chance
When the pheasant crow found them.”
(We have a dwarf variety of areca tree in our garden. A few years ago a bulbul couple built a nest among the thick fronds. They thought their nest would be safe and the mother laid the eggs there. One morning we heard furious chirping. The two little birds were flying around frantically trying to scare away the pheasant crow but in vain. In the evening we parted the fronds to see an empty nest. This was a few years ago. Since then birds have not built their nest in that tree.)
