Screams of those they robbed
Meant nothing to them at all.
To feather their nest,
Was all that they believed in.
What did they care of others?

  1. What a powerful piece. I’ve been looking for some short poetry that is written in past tense that can be put in present tense … it is an activity I use to show students the power of different tenses and of course to practice verb tense and tense agreement. This is a great mentor piece for that.
