Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “the last photo you took.” Take the last photo you snapped. What’s the first word that comes to mind when you look at it? That word is your prompt. Enjoy!

This evening we went to the lake in our place. It is a rain water harvested lake and covers about hundred acres. We love going there. The breeze and the water make it a special place. My last photo was of the lake. The water and the sky above fascinates me. This photo shows grey clouds above and their reflection in the water. Reflection is the word that came to mind when I looked at the photo.
I cannot have enough of reflections of the sky in the water. This lake is called Mannu Palla. Mannu is mud and Palla is lake. Long, long back mud was removed from this place for the tile factory. I don’t know when the factory stopped functioning. The place remained like a big crater. It was filled with water during the monsoon season. Very few people went there. Through the years things changed. A walking track came up around the lake. One summer the lake was desilted. In the middle the depth is about hundred feet. Pipes were fitted for water to flow in from all sides during the monsoon season. By September the lake is full. The rains stop in October-November. Then, water level comes down. By March we see the lake bed. Boys play cricket there 😊. We also see beautiful purple flowers, like a purple carpet. But the water never dries completely. This lake has helped to retain the groundwater.
Over the years reflections in the water have given me joy and I think of the many moods of Mannu Palla with a smile. I will always remember that evening a few years ago. The sky was a beautiful pink and the water was the same colour. The birds were singing. It was magical.
“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”
